Inside the Iwate Museum of Art

20th Century Japan from Sculpture to Canvas

We enter the Iwate Museum of Art, which is huddled amongst the mountains which surround Morioka City, to take a peek at their permanent Museum Collection. While temporary exhibitions come and go and bring great insights, this cluster of rooms on the gallery's second floor shows the progression of Japanese modern art, from an oil painting depicting Morioka in 1941 to bright, silk-screened posters from the 1970s. An easy ten minute walk from Morioka Station.
