Tokyo has a unique and distinct area called Shitamachi, a traditional district with shopping, entertainment, and residences. Asakusa and surrounding places are considered part of Shitamachi, and Okachimachi is one of them. Accessible from major stations such as Akihabara and Ueno, Okachimachi is known to have a variety of thrift shops, discount stores, and wholesale houses, and it's especially known for its jewellery dealers. The Ameyoko market is near, too. If you are looking for the liveliness of traditional Japanese markets, this is the best place to visit. You can always find some great deals here.
