Ashikaga Flower Park and Wisteria

Chosen as 1 of 9 Dream Destinations by CNN

Ashikaga Flower Park is home to the beautiful wisteria that will captivate your hearts the moment you are in the presence of the 130-year-old trees. From late April to mid May, the wisteria trellis is in full bloom and covers an area of about 500 tatami mats. The white wisteria tunnel runs the length of 80 meters. In addition to the incredibly gorgeous wisteria, you can enjoy viewing other flowers such as hydrangeas and azaleas that are over 60 years old. Come and see why this garden was chosen as one of nine dream destinations by CNN in 2014!

Open daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm, with extended times for the special illumination events during the wisteria season and in the winter. Admission is 300 to 1700yen depending on the time of year you visit.

This is a beautiful place. I wonder if there's a similar one in Tokyo area.

Thanks to my visits this year to both Kawachi Fujien and gardens here in Kumamoto, I think wisteria has become my new favorite flower! And now Ashikaga has to go on the list. Lovely video, Jessica!
