Hotel Green Odawara

A friendly and convenient business hotel

When staying in Odawara, Hotel Green is a great place to base yourself.

Only a ten-minute walk from the main station, fifteen minutes from the castle, and five minutes from the main shopping and dining area, with a smattering of restaurants, bars and convenience stores in the surrounding streets, Hotel Green provides easy access to anything you might want during your stay in Odawara.

Tucked into a quiet street where the city noise won’t bother you, this small business hotel offers lovely views of the mountains in the distance and lets you watch trains whooshing past from your large window.

The rooms, of course, are equipped with everything you would expect; desk, TV, fridge, phone, kettle, tea and teapot, and all the bathroom amenities. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned and serviced daily, with fresh towels, sheets and bathroom products.

Each room has a different feature wall, with an interesting color or design on it, which gave the rooms a bit of character.

There is also a small common area near the reception with couches, a microwave and free wifi access.

In some ways Hotel Green is a standard business hotel, but I felt that the delightful staff made it a wonderful place to go back to at the end of the day. They made an effort to learn and remember my name, and always greeted me with a huge smile when I came in or went out. It was lovely to come back in the evening to a warm “okaerinasai!” and questions about my day.

The owner, Mr Sakurai, is a born and raised local who is passionate about the Odawara and Hakone area, and is deeply committed to maintaining its traditional heritage and its popularity as a tourist destination. He speaks fluent English and, if you’re lucky enough to catch him, he will be happy to tell you plenty about the history of the city and the best places to visit.

The rates are very reasonable; you can get a spacious single room for ¥3900 for a night, and a double for ¥7000, making Hotel Green a very good choice for your stay in Odawara.
