Parks in Yokohama: Osanbashi Pier

When Japan officially opened its doors to the rest of the world in 1858, the history of the Port of Yokohama began. The current pier was built in 1995 and was nicknamed “The Whale”. The back of the whale (and its award-winning design) is covered with a wood deck and green lawn. People enjoy lots of sunshine, a big blue sky and the wide blue sea from the deck. From the west deck, you can see the wonderful Minato-mirai district. And at night, the view of Minato-mirai becomes really romantic and beautiful.
