You will have a good time marveling at each hot spring, interacting with the many attractions provided to entertain you, and have fun seeing other people having fun. Just get yourself to Beppu JR station, visit the information center, equip yourself with a 'hell passport' and one day bus pass, then enjoy the 8 hells of Beppu in half a day.
