Rock Hill Garden

Chic hideout dining spot in residential area

What I have found interesting recently is that cafes and restaurants which were renovated from old houses. If you visit them, I would say that in nine cases out of ten, you will enjoy the experience. This trend has spread to Kumamoto as well.

Rock Hill Garden is such a place close to JR Hikari-no-mori Station. This house consists of a restaurant, cafe, shop and gallery, and it is a lot bigger than it looks on the outside.

I came here for lunch at the Fusenon restaurant. We were treated to a private room called oto-no-ma. It is in a calm Japanese style and the private room is perfect for a family with small children or a work lunch. The Kaiseki lunch gives you a lot of pleasure as the chef showcases Kumamoto's fresh local produce beautifully. You could quite easily spend a good two hours here enjoying the meal with your company. Fusenon also has a sommelier who can choose a wine for you. I must come back for dinner.
