For the first time ever, visitors to Kyoto can enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms illuminated at night in Yamashina Ward. From Friday, April 3rd to Sunday, April 5th, 2026, Yamashina Canal Park and the adjacent Higashiyama Natural Green Space will host NAKED Night Stroll – Kyoto, Yamashina, a special event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of Yamashina Ward.
The event is organized by NAKED, INC. in collaboration with Kyoto City and as part of the regional revitalization project "meetus Yamashina-Daigo". The initiative aims to highlight the scenic and cultural value of the Yamashina Canal while encouraging sustainable tourism and community engagement. Visitors can stroll along rows of cherry and rape blossom trees, fully illuminated to create a magical nighttime landscape. Admission is free and no prior registration is required.
Participants can enhance their experience with NAKED Distance Lanterns, either by renting pre-made lanterns or creating their own in a workshop for a small fee. These lanterns, decorated with blossom designs, allow visitors to co-create the night view along the canal. There is also the NAKED Flower Fortune activity, where guests can design and take home their own floral memento.
Merchandise, including items featuring Motenasu-kun, the official mascot of Yamashina Sanjo Kaido, and cherry blossom picnic sheets, will be available to make evening strolls more comfortable and memorable.
The event runs from 17:00 to 21:00 each night and will continue even in the case of light rain. For more information on NAKED, INC. and their innovative art and cultural projects, visit naked.co.jp or follow their social media channels.
