HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO is welcoming spring with a limited-time Sakura Afternoon Tea, available from March 16th to April 28th, 2026. Set on the former site of the Mitsui family residence and just across from Nijo Castle, the hotel's courtyard is home to a double-flowered weeping cherry tree that serves as the inspiration for this seasonal offering.
The afternoon tea is designed to reflect the look and feel of cherry blossom season, with a mix of sweets and savory items in soft pink tones. Highlights on the sweets side include a Sakura Mont Blanc, Sakura Honey Montelimar, Sakura Macaroon, and a Strawberry and Rose Verrine. There's also a Cherry Blossom and Coconut Chunky Cookie for something a little more filling. Savory dishes take cues from hanami bento, such as Sakura Denbu and Salmon Roe Sushi Roll, New Potato Three-Color Dumplings with Mitarashi Jelly, Chicken Mousse with a Sakura Veil, and Sakura Sea Bream and Bamboo Shoot Royale.
Guests can enjoy free-flow drinks from a menu of over 20 options, including TWG teas. For those wanting something extra, a premium option adds a Sakura Pavlova and three original mocktails, created by the hotel's pastry team.
The Sakura Afternoon Tea is served at THE GARDEN BAR in four two-hour sessions each day. Prices start at 7,800 JPY per person, with the premium option available for 9,800 JPY. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak cherry blossom season.
