A volcanic event of millennia past gave rise to Mt. Kakuda and the constant erosion by waves of its seaward flank has left behind the stunning black lava Kakuda Cliffs. A cave/tunnel under the cape that supports a lighthouse leads to a ~400m long trail that traverses the length of the cliffs. The cliffs are an awesome landscape to behold, a favorite local fishing hole, and a fabulous place to see the sunset.

This trail is obviously not for the faint of heart... I don't see ANY guard rails and presumably the drop is 50m-100m. Nice to see that not all sightseeing places in Japan over-protect their visitors with fences and warning signs. Great photos btw.
