How are the cherry blossoms in northern Japan?

Best spots>?

  • Justin Velgus: We have several famous cherry blossoms spots and many small local areas. There was strong wind that hit a few days ago and wiped a lot of the more matured blossoms bare. Cherry blossoms are basically finished in Miyagi. Akita and Aomori are just past peak, so visitors should try to see them within a few days for their last chance! Or head to Hokkaido in a week or so. Pop over to Akita City or Kakunodate, they are still blooming, but will finish around golden week.  https://www.facebook.com/JapantravelAkita/ and http://en.japantravel.com/akita/kakunodate-cherry-blossom-festival/19459
