Getting from Naeba Ski Resort to Takamatsu/Okayama

Asked by YX Koh · 6 years ago

I will be travelling to Japan in July for the Fuji Rock festival and the Setouchi Triennale. Could anyone please advise on the best way to get from Naeba Ski Resort (where the Fuji Rock festival is held) to Takamatsu or Okayama for the Setouchi Triennale? Can the transportation be covered by a JR pass? Thanks!!

From the Naeba resort, take the shuttle bus to JR East Echigo-Yuzawa Station and take the Joetsu Shinkansen (Max Toki) to Tokyo Station, then the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen (Hikari) to Okayama.
That's all under JR, so JR pass can be used. That trip only cost
22 300, and assuming you get to Japan from Tokyo, to go to Echigo-Yuzawa from Tokyo, 6 670, and from Okayam to Tokyo is 17 470, so it's really cheaper to get a 7 days pass for
29 110, and almost the same as the 14 days pass at 46 390.
So in any case, take the JR Pass for 1 or 2 week and use it as much as you can, for example if you go somewhere between, befor or after the two events.
