Asahidake-Kurodake 1-day hike in August
I want to hike from Asahidake to Kurodake in Daisetsuzan National Park in August and was wondering if a 1-day hike is possible. I'm reasonably fit, but not an extremely experienced hiker. I'm also worried about bears in this area. Is this trail highly frequented, so could I expect lots of company in mid August, or would I be walking on my own as soon as I leave the ropeway's vicinity? And how many hours would it take in total, ropeway station to ropeway station?
I have never hiked this, so I can't say from experience.
The popularity of the course really depends on the weather that day. In general, Japan has a pretty intense hiker culture, so I'm sure there will be a lot of people out if the weather is fine. I did about a 5-hour hike on Mt. Shibutsu last July and this was the case. There were a lot of people. Hope the hike goes well!
