Where to stay for two nights: Kamakura or Yokohama

Asked by Tania Wee · 3 years ago

I am planning a side trip to Yokohama and Kamakura for two nights and was wondering which city would be the best option to stay in. I plan to travel to either one of these places via train and was wondering which town/city has more to offer.

It depends what you want in a place to stay. Yokohama is a big, busy city, so staying there will be similar to staying in Tokyo. With all its history and temples, Kamakura is quiet and peaceful; there's not much nightlife, but there are plenty of restaurants and cafes.

Of the two, I'd recommend Kamakura. It'll be a different experience from staying in Tokyo, and from there you can go to Yokohama or Enoshima, a sacred island just off the coast nearby.

As an alternative, you might base yourself in Fujisawa for those two nights. It's a fairly lively town, and it's quick and easy to travel from there to Kamakura, Yokohama, Enoshima, and Odawara, a historic castle town.

I also vote for Kamakura.

You can get a decent Air BNB in either of those spots, but I would say Yokohama! I think Kamakura (and Enoshima for that matter) is a better day trip than a get-away. Both are lovely spots, however!!

I also vote for Kamakura stay. Kamakura is a very popular place for travelers, but many travelers miss this place during their ttravels in Japan. Additionally, your Kamakura experience will be much richer if the city is quiet. I have a friend who stayed in Kamakura before. She really loved the place.

For your even better experience, you should talk to local people to find out where to stay and go in Kamakura. I would recommend you to see this website. https://goo.gl/SZQ2gw

I found they also have a page only for Kamakura!! https://goo.gl/VeRGQE

Hope you will have a good time in Japan!
