Travel by sea from Yamaguchi (Tokuyama) to Takamatsu

Asked by michel dematteis · 7 months ago

Hello! I am visiting family in Fukuoka for two weeks and planning to travel on my own in the beginning of March for 4 or 5 days around the Seto Inland Sea, wanting to travel by sea as much as possible. I will stay on Shiraishi Island for two days, go from there to Shodoshima, and from there to Osaka to take the big ferry back to Shin-monjiko. This is an overnight ferry however and I won't see much of the Seto Sea. Is there a way to leave Fukuoka, go by train to Tokuyama and from there make my way by sea to Takamatsu? I know there is a ferry from Hiroshima to Matsuyama on Shikoku and perhaps a ferry from there to Takamatsu, but I would love to see more of the Seto Sea from the sea. Can anyone recommend a good route? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

Hi Michel. If you're coming from Fukuoka, there is no option for you to travel by sea going to Takamatsu. After all, there is a direct line train from Fukuoka to Takamatsu which takes approximately around 3 hours. Your other options are to travel by bus or plane. But if you're really keen in doing it by sea, your best bet is to travel by train/bus to Uno Port in Okayama Prefecture then take a ferry from there to Takamatsu Port.
