Gardens & Pagoda of Eikan-do Temple

Nice breeze & Beautiful autumn tint

Just before the time of visitors coming to see the autumn leaves was in full swing, I strolled the temple grounds of Eikan-do. Because the timing was a bit off-season, I wasn’t caught in a crush of people. First, I went under the outside corridors and up the stone steps toward the pagoda on the cliff. The view from the top was fantastic. The priests at Eikan-do had been practicing, looking at the sun setting. They imagined the Buddhist Pure Land from here. I looked down the cliff. And I saw the colored leaves swaying. The garden in the south part of the precincts is a pond excursion garden. The murmur of the streams was comfortable to my ears. Various colors of maple leaves pleased my eyes with their complicated variations. Take a look at a video of the amazing outside corridors here.

Thank you, Daniel. Brilliant red leaves are attractive, but I also love the early autumn gradations.

Nice video, looks like a peaceful place, but I take it thats because you were there in off-season like you said. Nice view from the top of the cliff and there are some lovely colours of green !
