Picasso, Through the Eyes of Paul Smith 2026

A fresh take on one of the world's most celebrated artists

When
Jun 10th - Sep 21st 2026

This summer, Tokyo welcomes a fresh take on one of the world's most celebrated artists with Picasso, through the Eyes of Paul Smith, running from June 10th to September 21st, 2026, at The National Art Center, Tokyo. Held in the museum's Special Exhibition Room 2E in Roppongi, the show brings together the creative worlds of Pablo Picasso and British fashion designer Paul Smith in a lively and imaginative collaboration.

The exhibition draws on works from the Musée National Picasso in Paris and presents pieces from across Picasso's long and influential career, from his early years through to his later periods. Instead of a rigid academic layout, the artworks are arranged in a relaxed chronological flow that allows visitors to follow the artist's development in a more intuitive way.

What truly sets this exhibition apart is its design. Paul Smith, who is famous for his classic tailoring and use of bold color, has created the exhibition layout himself. The gallery spaces echo the spirit of his fashion collections, making them vibrant, welcoming, and full of visual surprises. This approach offers a fresh way to experience Picasso's art that feels more personal and accessible.

The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 18:00, with extended hours until 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Please note the venue is closed on Tuesdays throughout the event, except for August 11th (Mountain Day national holiday), and will instead close instead on August 12th.

Ticket and admission details will be announced closer to the opening date.
