Maki & Sushi
29th Feb 2016 - 28th Feb 2017
In the Japanese language, Maki means “roll”. However, when we refer to Maki at Arigato Japan, we generally mean a roll of rice, seaweed, and filler like raw fish (“sashimi”). Sushi, on the other hand, generally refers to sashimi on top of a small pill-shaped clump of rice.
In this fun and engaging class, Arigato Japan teaches all the basic techniques for making maki and sushi, its history and traditional etiquette when eating. During the class we make very colorful and tasty Temari sushi which is more casual and fun because it allows you to explore with different Japanese flavors and colors. This kind of sushi is highly recommended for home parties to impress your friends or just for a great dinner at home with your family.
We also make Mosaic sushi which combines different colored rice and fish to shape a more aesthetically pleasing roll slice. One of our Mosaic sushi is our Flower Sushi which is very easy to make and absolutely beautiful. We want to show you simple techniques to make this very exquisite Sushi - it’s almost too beautiful to eat! We hope we have the chance to teach you!
