A very informative and enjoyable experience. You get a hands on overview of 9 different locally produced teas, from growing, harvesting, processing and tasting. I also found the historic development of teas grown in this area fascinating. Marjolein has a wealth of knowledge which she shares easily. Overall a fantastic day! Ngā mihi nui!

An interesting and meaningful tour offered by Nagasaki Ikedoki with an aim to promote the tea culture and boost the tourism of the much less known city in Nagasaki province. The 2-hour (became 3-hour) tour is definitely worth for $. Not only can we learn more about history, production process and different categories of green tea, but most importantly how the town community tries to "save" this town from being forgotten or abandoned. We are impressed with the organizer, Marjolein, and her assistant Spencer, who are very passionate about the green tea culture and come all the way from the other continents to Japan. Holiday is not just about taking photos and eating good food. We should spend time to understand more about the culture of different counties/ cities.

The individually scheduled Ikedoki tea tour was a very pleasant experience and one of my major highlights of my holidays in Japan. I got to taste many different kinds of local teas while learning about the history and cultivation of tea in the area. Also, I got to visit the tea fields with a spectacular view across Omura Bay and a tea factory where I got to know how the tea is processed. My tour guide Marjolein was very kind and had many interesting things to tell. Also, she took a lot of time to answer my many questions. Thanks a lot for the beautiful & personal tour, I can fully recommend it further!
