One of Japan's foremost beer manufacturers, Sapporo Beer, launched a brand-new brewery on April 3, 2024 located in the heart of central Tokyo. This opening marks a significant milestone for the company, as it signifies Sapporo's return to Tokyo after a break of approximately 35 years since production ceased at the location in 1988 due to factory relocation.

Sapporo Beer invested over $11 million in the brewery, situated in the Ebisu Garden Place complex—adding to the vibrant landscape of Tokyo's bustling Shibuya Ward. It is anticipated the new brewery will attract roughly 250,000 visitors annually.

Visitors can enter the brewery for free and enjoy a variety of freshly brewed beers at the on-site bar. There are six types of beer available, ranging from ¥1,100 per glass. One of the unique offerings is "Yebisu Infinity," which is made by re-selecting the yeast used at the Yebisu factory over 35 years ago. To complement the beer selection, there is also a range of finger foods priced between ¥400 to ¥800 per plate.

Visitors are not only invited to enjoy the tasting experience, but also to explore the rich history of Sapporo Beer through a museum and learn about the evolution of Yebisu over the past 130 years. Starting May 15, 45-minute guided tours will be available for ¥1,800 per person, offering a behind-the-scenes view of the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into Sapporo's renowned brews.
