Sunflower Paradise in Fukui

Mid-summer aerial view of sunflower fields in Wakasa

One of the things representing summer which makes you feel that you are actually 'living' summer must be sunflowers. I bet anybody must have smiled to the tall and yellow sunflowers blooming tall against the blue sky once or twice in life. However, have you ever seen them 'from' the sky? Here is the chance for you. I visited the sunflower fields in Miyagawa area in Wakasa region of Fukui prefecture and made my drone fly over them on one mid-summer day. This aerial video was taken in 2013. This year, these flowers are expected to be in full bloom around Aug. 23. These fields are run by a local private farm which also produces sunflower rice.
