Ongami-jima is an uninhabited island which belongs to Wakasa Town of Fukui Prefecture. About 500 meters offshore from Tsunegami Peninsula, it is the biggest island in Fukui. In 629, upon orders of the Japanese Emperor, a shrine was built on the island enshrining the god of Tsunegami. Since then the shrine and the island itself have been worshipped by local people. One day I visited Wakasa Town to appreciate the divine view of this island. From where I stood I couldn't see it, so I let my drone fly over it and admired the mysterious view of the island floating in the ocean at twilight from the video feed my drone was sending me. It surely looked like god's island!
