About a 15 to 20 minute walk away from either Keikyu Taura or JR Taura Station lies the impressive 'Ume-no-Sato' (Plum Blossom Park), which comes to life during its annual spring festival from late February to early March.

Featuring over 2,700 plum blossoms, which are often confused with the more popular cherry blossoms, these impressive trees provide a great excuse to get out and enjoy the wonders of nature.

Located on a high hill overlooking the Miura Coast, this park offers the perfect spot for having a picnic whilst admiring the colorful flowers and impressive scenery below.

Despite the fact that not all of the flowers had come into bloom yet, many people could still be found sitting amongst them
This year`s plum festival lasted from the 4th of February to the 17th March, during which time the narrow streets and rivers leading up to this park are covered with many pink banners
Although there are several entrances to the park it can easily be accessed from either Keikyu Taura Station, (on the Keikyu Line) or Taura Station (on the JR Yokosuka Line), where it is possible to pick up a map from either station
