Sunset in Enoshima

Ending a hot summer day in Enoshima

Going to Enoshima is an experience I think one should not be without, at least if you are in the Tokyo area of Japan.

I went to Enoshima in the late afternoon of one of the hottest days of early July (July 7th to be exact). Coincidentally, this was also the date of “Tanabata”, which is a traditional Japanese festival. While I did not experience the festival, I was lucky enough to bump into a group of children carrying around a small “mikoshi”, which is a portable shrine.

This mix of Japanese traditions with the atmosphere of Enoshima made for one very memorable day.
