Tsumago-juku is a post town along the Kiso Valley's ancient highway, the Nakasendo. Hiking from the next post town, Magome, is highly recommend when visiting the area. Tsumago is mostly flat, with a couple of small hills, so it is much easier to traverse than Magome. A number of quaint shops and lovely ryokan (Japanese Inn) line the winding main street.
