Located at Beppu in Oita prefecture, the Umi Jigoku (Sea hell onsen) is a must sight-see destination in Kyushu. From JR Hakata to JR Beppu station, it is a comfortable 130 minutes train ride by Limited Express Sonic. Upon arrival at Beppu station, take Kamenoi bus 5, 7, 9 from the the bus station and alight at Kannawa stop. The cobalt-blue colour onsen was created 2000 years ago after an explosion of the volcano.
