Opened on August 30, 2007, Oze National Park encompasses the Ozegahara swamps and the mountains in the Oze area, which were formerly part of Nikko National Park. It also includes other nearby areas such as the Aizu-Komagatake and Tashiroyama Mountains.
The southern tip of the Oze National Park is located in the north of Gunma Prefecture and is a popular retreat for nature lovers. Home to the largest highland swamp in all of Japan, Oze is famous for its lush vegetation and exceptional flora.
The Oze National Park offers visitors with its numerous hiking and trekking trails an insight into the multifaceted nature of Japan. A six kilometer long hiking trail leads around the Ozenuma pond and invites you to relax and experience nature
From JR Joetsu Line's Numata Station, take a bus to Tokura or Oshimizu. The trip takes about 4 hours from Tokyo.
