Satta Toge Pass

A view of Mount Fuji unchanged in centuries

Apart from the road, this view hasn't changed for centuries

There are more signs to follow as you walk from Okitsu station

The walk takes you through a temple graveyard

I found the rusted remains of what I guess was a chairlift

Every time you round a bend, there Mount Fuji is

It attracts a good number of photographers

Between Okitsu and Yui stations on the outskirts of Shizuoka City, the Satta Toge pass is a trail up over a large hill overlooking the coast, made famous in an Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Hiroshige. It commands an impressive view of Mount Fuji from a number of vantage points along the walk, and on clear evenings you'll see plenty of amateur photographers training their cameras on the mountain as dusk settles over it.

Oh, I've been here, too. It's really a great place, especially for photographers. I have been wanting to submit my photos from Satta-toge, but I never got the chance to. Perhaps one of these months.

How long did you walk for? You saw "Red Fuji" which I always dream of!

Hello Yui! I actually walked from Shimizu station to Sengen-ji, a famous historic temple, then to Okitsu station, and from there on to the Satta Toge. In total, maybe about four and a half hours! Though I did spend plenty of time at the temple.
