For Trainers and Pokémon fans visiting Japan, 2026 marks a very special milestone: the 10th anniversary of the global phenomenon that is Pokémon GO. To celebrate, Niantic Inc. and The Pokémon Company are bringing Pokémon GO Fest 2026 to Tokyo, with a sprawling in-person event across the Minato, Koto, and Shinagawa wards, anchored by the main venue at Odaiba Seaside Park. The festival runs from Friday, May 29th to Monday, June 1st, with citywide gameplay starting Monday, May 25th.
Since its launch in July 2016, Pokémon GO has transformed how people interact with the world. By combining Augmented Reality with real-world exploration, the app has encouraged players to go outside, discover new places, and meet fellow Trainers. With over one billion downloads to date, it has become a cultural phenomenon spanning generations and continents. Pokémon GO Fest, the game's flagship real-life event, has been held annually in cities worldwide since 2018, creating unique opportunities for global Trainers to connect and celebrate their shared passion.
Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Tokyo introduces the "City Exploration Ticket," a world-first initiative allowing Trainers to play throughout the Tokyo metropolitan area, while main venue sessions at Odaiba, Symbol Promenade Park, and Shiokaze Park offer interactive displays, photo spots, and encounters with rare Pokémon. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike highlighted the event's ability to showcase the city's charm, while ward leaders emphasized the opportunity to explore historical, cultural, and scenic highlights in Minato, Koto, and Shinagawa.
Tickets go on sale in early March via the official site here, with options for single-day city gameplay or full festival access.
