Shinjuku Gyoen in Full Bloom

Extremely colourful—haven't seen this variety anywhere else so far

Some of the branches almost reach the ground and the blossoms form a kind of curtain

This pink wheeping cherry tree was one of the main attractions when I was there

You love pink? Here you go!

Or rather light pink?

This white blossom tree was the other main attraction that day

It's actually only one tree!

The Japanese garden doesn't have so many cherry trees, so the area is a little bit more quiet and the atmosphere really relaxed

A painter is enjoying this more quiet part, too

I love Shinjuku Gyoen at any time of the year, but the cherry blossom season is certainly a highlight. This park was created in a very clever way, so that you can enjoy the spring for the longest possible time. It starts with the plum blossom in February, and after that there is a great variety of cherry trees that reach their full bloom at different times.
