If you are looking for an authentic local sento, Atami-yu is the place to visit. This old-fashioned bath house has a traditional design. Atami-yu is nestled within the stone alleys of Iidabashi. The area, hidden from most tourists, is dotted with little shops and restaurants with a very local feel. The male and female sections are divided by a wall extending from the locker room to the end of the baths. Tickets cost ¥460. The laid back atmosphere allows you to feel like you are in your own private bathroom. Vintage design, tiled walls, and beautiful murals of Mt. Fuji make for a genuine Japanese experience.
