A tranquil street follows the Mamigasaki River. The trees provide a pleasant shade for a walk on a warm sunny day in Yamagata. A gentle gust of wind brings you an intense smell of good coffee. Nearby two old cargo train cars stands aside the street and a dangling sign says "Espresso" under a white coffee pot drawing. On the street side one of the two carriages opens into a narrow terrace where an old couple sits talking quietly. The charming and relaxed atmosphere and the extravagant "architecture" are what make this place so unique.
The Espresso (エスプレッソ) is a bar located in a residential area of Yamagata city. Entering the only room you will find yourself surrounded by an eclectic collection. Old lamps, musical instruments, books and other things decorate the interior; there is even an embalmed armadillo on the terrace railing.
The drinks are served in small glasses and you can choose among various blends. Sit down inside or at one of the two small tables on the balcony and relax. Deeply breathe; appreciate the aroma of the freshly brewed coffee and savour the rich aftertaste that follows every sip. The perfect coffee break is here.
There are different bus routes to reach the location from the main station. Ask at the bus information counter for details and they will help you. The walking distance is about 45 minutes or you can always take a taxi.

Born on a cold day in December 1984, I live in Verona, I am a computer engineer, loving martial arts, travel, Japan, food and of course photography. Photography is not only looking for beautiful pictures, it's more, much more; It means keeping memories, details, and moments that will inevitably become more and more blurred in our memory; it means waking up when everyone is sleeping; getting excited at the frost or under a thunderstorm when everyone is running away; learning to wait and knowing the surrounding environment; looking for new places and exploring forgotten ones, it means being able to see and enjoy what is surrounding us learning to observe with different eyes.
