On a fantastic clear day in the middle of July, my husband and I went for a 1-day hike in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. We climbed Mitsu-toge-yama (三つ峠山) starting at Mitsu-toge station and finishing at Kawaguchiko, the beautiful lake at the foot of Mt. Fuji. This is one of the most rewarding hikes I have done in the Tokyo area. Have a look yourself!

I just got back from the Yamanashi area, and now I'm getting inspired to go back! How long was your hike?
Hi Victoria, sorry for my late reply. Glad you got inspired. The full hike as I did it was about 6 hours. Have a look at the related article, where I describe the entire route. There is a lovely mountain hut at the top, where you could spend the night if you don't want to do it in one day. Hope you get a chance!
Thank you kansaikate! It is a wonderful mountain, and safe to climb too :-)
