Taura Plum Grove Festival 2025

Blossoms abound at Miura Peninsula's largest plum spot

Venue: Taura Plum Grove & Taura Elementary School When: Early Feb - Early Mar 2025

Plum blossoms signal spring's impending arrival in Japan, and one great place to enjoy them in Kanagawa Prefecture is at the Taura Plum Grove in Yokosuka. The grove has a history dating back to 1934 and is home to almost 3000 plum trees, laying claim to being the largest plum grove on the Miura Peninsula at around 6,000 m².

An annual festival takes place at the plum grove when the trees are looking their best, which is from the early February to early March timeframe. The beautiful reds and whites of the flowers are a spectacular sight to see, and visitors can also enjoy some great views out over the surrounding area from the observation deck on the grounds.

Admission to the festival is free of charge.

Getting there

The Taura Plum Grove can be accessed in around 20 minutes on foot from Taura Station, which is served by the Yokosuka Line.
