This beautiful garden features a variety of flora from April to the end of November, every day from 9:00 to 16:30. Entry is ¥200 for adults, ¥150 for university and high school students. For younger children, it's ¥100, but entry is free for all on Greenery Day, May 4th. There is parking just outside the entrance, or you can arrive by the (infrequent) bus which stops by the path to Otaki Falls. Enjoy the charms of each season!

Akiu Falls Botanical Garden
Floral beauty near the powerful waterfall
By Laura Welch
Community writer
The water lily pond really comes into its own during the summer
The entrance is not far from the path to Otaki Falls
There are several rhododendrons in bloom during spring
The blossoms look lovely
A red and white camellia japonica
Sudare falls, a smaller cousin of Otaki, can be seen at the gardens
The wisteria arbor is very impressive in May
This is probably an azalea-rhododendron
There's even some topiary, probably a Japanese (or hinoki) cypress
