Do you like movies and exciting venues? The Nara International Film Festival might only happen in even numbered years, but that’s not stopping them from putting on a good time for movie lovers and film makers in an off year!
This coming Silver Week from Sunday September 20th to Tuesday September 22nd the NIFF will hold “Movies in Nara Park,” an outdoor screening of a different film each night (note that only the Tuesday film is available in English) in the esteemed and beautiful World Heritage Nara Park. Walk up tickets cost ¥1,500 for adults and ¥700 for children. Pick up a flyer for the event at any of the visitor information centers anywhere in Nara City and present it at the venue and the ticket prices come down to ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for children. The event includes local food and crafts stalls and a children’s play area and game both.
The venue for Movies in Nara Park is the Ukigumo Enchi Lawn area adjacent to Todaiji Temple’s main walkway. A bus from JR or Kintetsu Nara Station is the quickest and most cost effective way to get to the venue. Get off the bus at the Daibutsuden-mae bus stop. See you for movies in the park?
