Cape Zanpa in Yomitan Village is the first of many spectacular capes that dot the eastern coastline once exiting the heavily populated southern portion of Okinawa's main island. During the Okinawa rainy season each Spring the windy and wet spray of water from above and from the ocean blankets the smoothed over coral bluffs at this end of land. A beautiful lighthouse with a museum in it can be entered however at this present time it is being renovated and repaired. Many paved and unpaved walking paths in the area are lined with picturesque views and an endless array of monuments. There is a surprisingly large parking lot, a restaurant, sidewalk vendors, covered picnic areas and seaside bluffs that soften into beaches in the distance from the cape. I will surely return again during the warmth of Summer in anticipation of more hospitable weather and the reopening of the lighthouse.

Cape Zanpa is a coral bluff at lands end with a lighthouse that once guided mariners near this rugged area
Further away from the lighthouse the coral bluffs soften and transform into beaches that dot the coastline south of the cape
I often photograph the largest dog I see in each country. This Shisa Dog at Cape Zanpa is currently my biggest find
This statue along the walking paths at Cape Zanpa points directly at the end of Cape Zanpa
An inhospitable sea crashes against the coastline at Cape Zanpa
Covered picnic areas with barbeque grills can be reserved at Cape Zanpa
Some of the area is unpassable due to coastal jungle overgrowth

I cruised down Route 6 today after church in hope of seeing the lighthouse reopened. It's still closed for repair and renovation. I'll post here when it does reopen.
