Kasama's Cafe R Hana

Great food & more in Ibaraki's pottery town

I highly recommend the lunch plate of the day. It is always incredibly tasty and healthy.

In addition to serving food, Cafe R Hana is also a shop selling locally made pottery, zakka (knick knacks), and baked goods.

The cafe has a perfect location between the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art and the Kasama Inari Shrine.

The menu changes constantly and is only in Japanese. However, the staff is friendly and will do their best to help you.

Just off the traditional shopping street that runs in front of Kasama Inari Shrine, the cafe is a wonderful oasis that most people don't notice.

All of the food and drink are served in beautiful locally-made pottery.

The cafe is very inviting and great care has been taken in choosing the decorations/furniture.

The best seats in the house - enjoy your lunch and watch the world go by.

Another lunch on a day I visited was a delicious curry. It was served with a salad and some mini side items (not pictured).

There is a small garden area in back where special events are sometimes held.

Delicious cookies and scones are available for purchase. Yum!

The Cafe R Hana is a lovely cafe housed in a traditional Japanese building in the popular pottery town of Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture. In addition to a couple of delicious daily lunches, the cafe serves tasty desserts with coffee/tea.

Spacious and well decorated, it is the perfect place to 'duck into' and relax when visiting Kasama's traditional shopping street — including Kasama Inari Shrine and the Nichido Museum of Art.

I adore such places, Japanese food and pottery! Would like to visit that place.

The lunch plate looks delicious. I love when that option is on the menu. You always get a tasty mix.

I agree. Whenever in doubt, have the 'one plate lunch'. There is almost always something that I am eating for the first time (and wish I could eat again)!
