TeamLab Kairakuen Light Festival 2022

Adding light to this top Japanese garden

When
Feb 1st - Mar 31st 2022

The digital art collective TeamLab have a reputation for some incredible light and projection mapping displays, and an upcoming event at Ibaraki's Kairakuen Garden is bound to continue that trend. The TeamLab Kairakuen Light Festival will run throughout February and March, and it intends to enhance the immense natural beauty that the garden is renowned for.

Colorful ovoid lights will decorate part of the garden, and they're interactive - they change color when visitors touch them. There will also be projection mapping displays around the bamboo grove and on an 800-year old cedar tree, plus numerous illuminated plum trees that Kairakuen is famous for.

Kairakuen is located just a minute on foot from Kairakuen Station, which is served by the Jōban Line.

Outdoors those digital art must be even more impressive than inside a building! I'd like to watch it.
