A new Pokémon-themed attraction has arrived in Wakura Onsen, giving travelers another reason to explore one of the Hokuriku region’s most famous hot spring towns.
The Wakura Pokémon Footbath is open daily from 7am until 7pm, and transforms a public footbath area inside Yuttari Park into a colorful Pokémon-inspired relaxation spot. Created through a collaboration between the Pokémon With You Foundation and Nanao City, the attraction is part of wider efforts to support tourism and community recovery in the Noto Peninsula following the 2024 earthquake.
Visitors can soak their feet surrounded by Pokémon-themed decorations, while nearby “Poké Lid” manhole covers around the city feature fan-favorite characters including Gyarados, Poliwag, and Politoad. The footbath itself is free to use, making it an easy stop for families, Pokémon fans, and anyone sightseeing around Ishikawa.
The opening comes as the wider Noto region continues rebuilding and introducing new attractions aimed at encouraging tourism back to the area. One of the biggest upcoming additions is the launch of the world’s first Pokémon-branded airport, which is scheduled to open in July 2026. The themed airport will feature Pokémon decorations, character displays, special merchandise, and tourism experiences designed to help revitalize the region.
Together, the new airport and attractions like the Wakura Pokémon Footbath are helping create a growing Pokémon travel trail across Ishikawa and the Noto Peninsula.
While recovery efforts are still ongoing in some areas, more inns, bathhouses, and local businesses have gradually reopened, welcoming visitors back to one of Japan’s most scenic coastal regions.
