Kawasaki Daishi Koen is a large public park located just behind the famous Kawasaki Daishi Temple. The park contains baseball fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool, large grassy lawns, playgrounds, and some shallow 'streams' that kids can splash around in during the summer. Hidden in the back corner of the park is a lovely Chinese garden, Shinshu-en. It was built to celebrate the five year anniversary of the friendship between Kawasaki and Shenyang, China, and is based on designs of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The garden is almost always empty, and is a wonderful hidden oasis.
