Japan's cherry blossom events generally rely on the Japan Meteorological Agency's forecasts. Since blossom dates are subject to change, please always check the venue's official site before you visit 🌸

Seeing cherry blossoms is often on the wish list for visitors to Japan, and they come early in the town of Matsuda in Kanagawa Prefecture. The Matsuda Cherry Blossom Festival has been held for almost a quarter of a century, and showcases early-blooming kawazuzakura alongside vibrant yellow rapeseed flowers. The colorful combination is a sure sign that spring is on the way!

Another incentive to visit this cherry blossom festival is the incredible view of Mount Fuji you can get from Nishihirabatake Park on clear days.

The event does have an admission fee, which is ¥300 for adults (18+), and ¥100 for children between 6 and 17 years old.

Getting there

Nishihirabatake Park is located approximately 20 minutes on foot from Shin-Matsuda Station, which is served by the Odakyu Odawara Line. Alternatively, shuttle buses will be running from JR Matsuda Station's North Exit in 30 minute intervals from 9:30 to 16:00 throughout the festival dates. The one-way shuttle fee is 160 yen for adults and 80 yen for children.

For those who opt to drive, the venue is located around 5 minutes from the Oi Matsuda IC on the Tomei Expressway.
