On weekends and holidays many people come here to enjoy the views

Unfortunately Shogunzuka was undergoing reconstruction, so I couldn't enter the garden.

From the trail below I could see a crane in the grounds of Shogunzuka

One of the best places for views over Kyoto is the carpark of Shogunzuka. You can reach it by car along Higashiyama Driveway, but there is also some very pleasant hiking trails that lead from Awata Shrine, Chishaku-in Temple, or Rokusho Shrine in Yamashina. If the renovations at Shogunzuka are completed, be sure to visit and take some photos for me!
