There is a trail starting from Rokusho Shrine in Yamashina that leads up into the Higashiyama Hills. On a snowy winter morning it offered an easy and beautiful nature walk with views over Yamashina, and lovely scenes of bamboo in the snow. The path was so pretty I couldn't stop taking photos!

A trail into the hills begins at these steps near Rokusho Shrine

The path looked both mysterious and inviting

Small amounts of snow piled on the joints of the bamboo stems
