A special exhibition taking place at Okinawa's Urasoe Art Museum until January 17th 2021 looks at the works of several contemporary Okinawan lacquerware artists. Around 90 lacquerware pieces in total will be displayed at the exhibition, which are intended to showcase the new developments in this art form that have built upon the traditions of old.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 200 yen.
The Urasoe Art Museum is located about a 40 minute drive from Naha Airport - take the Route 330 (bypass) north for around 12 kilometers. Parking is available at the Culture Park Parking Lot, which serves several of the cultural facilities in the surrounding area.
For those using public transport, the museum is around a 20 minute walk (or under 5 minutes by taxi) from the Okinawa Monorail's Urasoe Maeda Station. Alternatively, take bus number 56 from the station, and alight at the Bijutsukan stop.
