Japanese Paintings of Modern Osaka

Discover the city's artistic expression from the Meiji to Showa eras

Venue: Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka When: Jan 21st - Apr 2nd 2023

In addition to serving as a city of commerce and industry, Osaka boasts a cultural sphere which is different to what you'll find in places like Tokyo and Kyoto. A significant part of this is the city's arts scene, which comes with a freedom of expression untethered by the longstanding traditions of other places.

A special exhibition coming to the Nakanoshima Museum of Art will explore Japanese paintings in modern Osaka from the Meiji to Showa eras, with around 150 works on display. By delving into the background of these artworks, the goal is to highlight the culture of the city that has brought us to the present.

Getting there

The Nakanoshima Museum of Art is located under five minutes on foot from Watanabebashi Station, served by the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line. The event takes place at the 4th floor exhibition room.

For those who opt to drive, paid on-site parking is available for around 70 vehicles.
