Japan, renowned for its ability to blend tradition with innovation, is set to make history once again by hosting its third World Expo. Following the groundbreaking successes of Expo 1970 in Osaka, Asia’s first-ever, and Expo 2005 in Aichi, the spotlight returns to Osaka for this highly anticipated event.

What to expect

Expo 2025 is scheduled to run for six months, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, and will take place on Yumeshima, a man-made island in Osaka Bay. The venue's location offers stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea and serves as a perfect backdrop for a world-class exhibition.

A total of 158 countries and regions, along with nine international organizations, will participate in the event to showcase their cultures, innovations, and contributions to a better future with the eight core themes of Expo 2025 in mind: Co-creating Cultures for the Future, The Future of Community and Mobility, Necessities of Life: Food, Clothing, and Shelter, Health and Well-being, Learning and Playing, Peace, Human Security, and Dignity, The Future of Earth and Biodiversity, and SDGs+ Beyond Future Society for Life. Getting there

As Expo 2025 will take place on Yumeshima, an artificial island, visitors have two primary access options: the Osaka Metro Chuo Line and buses from major railway stations. The Osaka Metro Chuo Line connects directly to the newly constructed Yumeshima Station, providing convenient access to the venue. Shuttle buses operate from 10 key locations across Osaka City and nearby areas.

Private vehicles are not permitted to drive directly onto Yumeshima Island. Visitors traveling by car can park at designated areas in Maishima, Amagasaki, or Sakai and transfer to shuttle buses serving the Expo.

Additional transportation options, including direct airport buses, medium- and long-distance buses, and ferry services, are also being planned to accommodate various needs.
