The second largest airport in Kyushu, after Fukuoka Airport, Kagoshima has everything you expect from a modern and spacious airport. Car rental, shopping, souvenir shops and plenty of restaurants make it a great entry point to the island and also this area of Japan as a whole. With both domestic and international routes on offer it’s a convenient location for all kinds of traveller. About 40 minutes from central Kagoshima by bus or taxi it’s on par with other Japanese airports for transit times. Car rental facilities are also offered in addition to banks, a well-equipped tourist information office, post office, lockers, lounges and comprehensive WiFi. It's a pleasant airport and one in which visitors can easily enjoy.
Look out for shops and souvenir stalls selling the best that Kagoshima has to offer such as local specialties such as shochu, sweet potatoes, Chiran tea and Satusuma-age fried fish cakes.
