Lunch at Hachimankamado
Eat lunch, grilled over an open fire, served in a seaside hut by women dressed as Japanese pearl divers.
For a taste of something a little different, why not visit Spain while you’re in Japan? You can do just that at Shima Span Village in Mie Prefecture. This theme park features attractions, restaurants, shows, and shops! Also known as Parque Espana, this Disney-esque Spanishland will entertain guests with their many roller coasters and lagoon boats. There’s even a mystery house for those who are brave of heart. Visit the photo studio for a commemorative photo in traditional Spanish costumes.
You’ll also want to catch the daily parade with live flamenco dancers in bright-colored costumes. A visit to the replica castles and architecture brings Spain alive as you wander through the park from attraction to attraction. The park also has several small take-out stands ready to serve visitors churros and popcorn—flavors differ from bar to bar—if dining in isn’t your thing. And for adults, don’t miss some of the souvenir shops selling imported Spanish wines and beers as well as Spanish confections. No matter where you go inside Shima Spain Village, you will really feel as if you’ve been transported to Spain for the day.
Next door to the park is a hot spring bath, Himawari no Yu, the perfect place to unwind after a day in “Spain”.
