After trading in the 9-5 lifestyle for freelancing careers earlier this year, my husband and I hotfooted our way to the Japanese embassy, secured ourselves a couple of visas and booked our flights from Dublin to Kansai International Airport to begin our year-long adventure in Kyoto.

Our time here so far has been mainly spent eating delicious food, seeing spectacular sights, meeting fantastic people, and getting ourselves into wonderfully ridiculous situations while trying to speak the language.
